VINCENT VAN GOGH – SIX SUNFLOWERS

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) painted “Six Sunflowers” in 1888 but it was destroyed in Japan in 1945.

It was sold to a Japanese collector and shipped to Japan in 1920. But it was destroyed in a fire after US bombing of Osaka during World War II.

“The Rice Portrait”, by Ozias Humphry (1742-1810).

 

The portrait drawing below, in graphite on vellum, had been in a private collection for years, and was being auctioned as an “imaginary portrait” of Austen, with “Miss Jane Austin” written on the back.
